About Us Issuance of Certificates

Please note that for submission of applications for Consular Services (Registration of Indian Nationals, PCC, Attestations etc.) prior appointment through online appointment system (https://www.eoilisbon.gov.in/sampark/login.php) is mandatory. Please note that if you want Consular Services/PCC, please select the option of Consular Services/PCC only while booking the appointment. If you book any other appointment (e.g. Visa/Passport) for Consular Services, entry would not be allowed.

The following kinds of certificates are issued by the Consular Section of the Embassy

1. Registration of Indian Nationals with Embassy of India in Lisbon( Only Online)

Offline Registration with the Embassy has been closed

All Indian nationals planning to live in Portugal (except short term tourists) are advised to register themselves with Embassy of India in Lisbon. Registration with Embassy would facilitate providing of Consular services and any measures that need to be taken in a situation of emergency or if such a need arises.

2. Police clearance certificate (PCC):

If you are registered with Embassy online, you can also apply for PCC via Post.

Documents required:

i. Original Passport

ii. Photocopy of Passport's first page and last page

iii. Original & photocopy of Residence Card/Proof of residence/valid visa

iv. Fees – 22 Euros (including ICWF Charges)

v. In case of you are applying via Post – Fees 24.5 (payable only by Postal draft available in the Post office). Do not send fees in cash in the envelop.

3. Registration of birth of a minor child

It is necessary to register the birth of an Indian child, born abroad, with the Indian Embassy / Consulate in the country of birth. Such registration should normally be done within one year of the birth. The Embassy / Consulate issues a birth certificate to the child, which entitles the child Indian citizenship by descent.

Documents required:

i. Dully filled and signed form for Registration of birth of a minor child at an Indian Consulate under Section 4 (1) of the Citizenship Act, 1955. The form is available at https://indiancitizenshiponline.nic.in/Home.aspx.  

(The form should be signed by both parents.)

ii. Birth Certificate of the child issued by competent authority in Portugal (original and copy).  

iii. Copies of the passports of both parents.

iv. Certificate of Indian Citizenship of parents, if they are not citizen of India by birth (original and copy).  

v. Marriage certificate of the parents (duly apostilled by MEA India) (For details, visit http://mea.gov.in/apostille.htm) (original and copy)

vi. A declaration letter by parents that the child does not hold passport of any other country.

vii. Fees – Euros 27 (including ICWF Charges)

(If you are applying for passport for the minor as well, please bring an additional set of photocopies of documents mentioned above.)

4. Registration of Death and Transportation of a Dead Body to India

Documents required:

i. Death Certificate form

ii. Original and Photocopy of passport of the deceased

iii. Death certificate (original and copy) issued by Portuguese registration office

iv. Cause of death certificate (original and copy) issued by the Hospital

v. Sanitary certificate (original and copy) for transport of corpses from Portugal to India issued by Portuguese Health Authority

vi. “Livre-Transito Mortuario” (Free Mortuary Traffic) (original and copy) issued by PSP (Policia de Seguranca Publica)

vii. Embalming Certificate (original and copy)  

viii. Identity document (original and copy) for the person registering the death

viii. Fees – Euro 1

All the certificates from iii to vii needs to duly translated in English and notorised by Portuguese notary. 

5. Nationality Certificate:

Please note that prior Registration with Embassy of India in Lisbon (as mentioned above) is mandatory before applying for Nationality Certificate.

If you are registered with Embassy online (https://www.eoilisbon.gov.in/sampark/login.php) , you can also apply for Nationality Certificate via Post.

Documents required:

i. Original Passport

ii. Photocopy of Passport's first page, last page and current visa page;

iv. Fees – 22 Euros (including ICWF Charges)

v. In case of you are applying via Post – Fees 24.5 (payable only by Postal draft available in the Post office). Do not send fees in cash in the envelop.

6. Bachelorship Certificate:

The Embassy does NOT issue bachelorship certificates. However, if the applicant already holds a bachelorship or eligibility of marriage certificate issued by a court of law in India and is apostilled by the Ministry of External Affairs, (Consular Division), Patiala House, New Delhi, such apostilled documents do not require additional attestation from this Embassy.

7. Matrimonial Condition Certificate

i. Original Passport

ii. Photocopy of Passport's first page, last page and current visa page;

iii. Bachelorship or eligibility of marriage certificate issued by a court of law in India and is apostilled by the Ministry of External Affairs (original and copy)

iv. Fees – 27 Euros (including ICWF Charges)

8. Certificate giving details of birth as extracted from Passport

9. Driving Licence Declaration

ii. Regional Transport Office (RTO) declaration duly apostilled by the Ministry of External Affairs (original and self attested copy)

iii. 27 Euros + 2.50 postage charges

iv. Driving license copy

vi. Portuguese Residence card copy.

10. Consular inscription Certificate
