  1. Surrender Certificate for Indian National who acquired Foreign/Portuguese national

The Persons of Indian Origin, who have already acquired Portuguese citizenship, are eligible to surrender their Indian passport and Can acquire surrender Certificate. This can be used to apply for OCI card.

Application can be filled using following link

The application must be submitted physically at the Embassy. The fee is 20 Euros (plus 2 Euros for ICWF and 4 Euros for postal charges), to be paid at the Embassy. 

Documents required:

  1. Duly completed form as above

  1. Two photographs
  2. Original Indian passport  along with Passport Copy (first page and last page)
  3. Portuguese Passport copy
  4. Portuguese citizen card.
  5. Portuguese Birth Certificate copy (all three pages) with endorsement stamp of date of acquisition of Portuguese Nationality.

A passport surrender certificate will be issued to applicant.  It may be noted here that Surrender Certificate is a mandatory document for applying for OCI.      

  1. Renunciation Certificate

Indian National who wish to give up Indian Citizenship/Passport need to apply for the renunciation Certificate.

Application can be filled using the following link

 https://indiancitizenshiponline.nic.in/Renounce .

Once the citizenship renunciation certificate is issued, the applicant has to surrender his Indian passport as per procedure given above. 

The fees Should be paid 80 Euros at embassy for renunciation Certificate and subsequently 20 Euros (plus 2 Euros ICWF & 4 Euros of Postal charges) for surrender certificate.

  1. Revocation Order/ Certificate 

Indian nationals hailing from erstwhile Portuguese territories in India (Goa, Daman and Diu), who have acquired Portuguese nationality as per Portuguese Nationality Law and who have been issued passport revocation order instead of surrender certificate, a copy of such  revocation order will be considered as an alternative document in lieu of surrender certificate for application of OCI Card. The person concerned will have to certify that he/she has not obtained the Portuguese passport fraudulently. 

Applicants need to submit all documents physically at the embassy by taking online appointment.
