Sub: The Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund

Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on March 28, 2020, announced the creation of the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund. All Indian nationals and organisations can contribute directly to the aforesaid Fund to help in the efforts of the Government of India to combat Covid-19. This Fund will enable micro-donations as a result of which a large number of people will be able to contribute with the smallest of the denominations. “It will go a long way in creating a healthier India”.

2. The pandemic of COVID-19 has engulfed the entire world and has posed serious challenges for the health and economic security of millions of people worldwide, including in France. In India too, the spread of coronavirus has been alarming and is threatens to have severe health and economic ramifications for our country. Therefore, building capacities for quick emergency response and effective community resilience has to be undertaken in tandem with the reconstruction/enhancement of infrastructure and institutional capacity.

3. In view of the need to have a dedicated national fund with the primary objective of dealing with any kind of emergency or distress situation, like that posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and to provide relief to the affected, a public charitable trust under the name of ‘Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund’ (PM CARES Fund)’ has been set up. Prime Minister is the Chairman of this trust and its Members comprise of the Defence Minister, Home Minister and the Finance Minister.

4. All Indian nationals and organisations interested in donating to this newly created Fund can go to the website pmindia.gov.in and donate to “PM CARES” Fund using following details:
