ICCR General Scholarship Scheme 2021-22

OFFER OF SCHOLARSHIPS FOR PORTUGUESE NATIONALS BY GOVERNMENT OF INDIA FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2021-2022

The Government of India under the aegis of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) is offering 
one scholarship slot to Portuguese Nationals under the General Scholarship Scheme (A1201) for the academic year 2021-22.
The Scholarship being offered is without Air FareThe General Scholarship Scheme is one of the most important and popular schemes of the ICCR for foreign students to pursue higher studies in Indian universities and educational institutions.

Interested students can apply for scholarship online through ICCR’s A2A Scholarship Portalat
http://a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in. The portal contains all the relevant information for the applicants including details of all participating Universities/Institutes, courses offered, availability of hostels, application guidelines, eligibility criteria and other relevant information for helping the applicants in decision-making while applying for the academic courses of their preference.

Last date of submission of online Application is 30 May 2021.

Some of the important guidelines are listed below:-

(a)Applicant should be 18 years of age at the time of admission in Indian Universities/Institutes and not more 30 years of age.

(b) Applicant should be proficient in English.

(c) According to new admission policy, applications will be directly sent by students to respective universities. A large number of Universities/Institutes are linked on A2A portal for receiving applications directly from foreign students. Applicants have the option to apply to 5 Universities/Institutes in the order of their preference of study.

(dApplicants are advised to exercise due diligence in selection of University/Institute by visiting their website and do thorough research of courses offered, eligibility criteria and general information about the University/Institute before applying for admission and ensure that they submit all relevant documentation as required by the University/Institute in addition to the basic certificates mentioned in the application form. The application will not be considered without English translation of documents if the original documents are not in English.

(e) This scholarship is not for admission in Medical/ Paramedical (Nursing/ Physiotherapy/Anaesthesia etc.)/fashion courses.

(f) For B.E./ B.Tech courses, the candidates should have Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (PCM) in their school leaving examination which is a mandatory requirement for Engineering courses.

(g) For science courses, the expenditure on laboratory chemicals and other related incidental charges will be borne by the scholars themselves.

(h) Beginning the academic year 2021-22, a 500-word essay in English has been introduced to ascertain English proficiency. Besides, students can also submit their TOFEL/IELTS etc. Standardized Test scores, if available. University/Institute may conduct interview of the applicants online, if so required. There will be no separate English test by the Embassy.

(i) Procuring personal medical insurance is a mandatory requirement for availing of the scholarship with a minimum sum assured for Indian Rupees Five Lakhs which is equivalent to US$6800 per annum.
