VISA SERVICES - General Information

(Important points to note before applying visa)

  1. When applying for an Indian visa, applicants are requested to disclose details of all passports (current/old) held by them. Failure to do so may result in rejection of their applications.

  2. When applying for a visa, the passport should be valid for a minimum period of 6 months or more. The passport must have at least three blank pages and should not be mutilated / damaged / tampered in any manner.

  3. Suppression of facts and information will not only result in delay/ or denial of visa applied for but may debar the applicant from applying in future. 

  4. The acceptance of a visa application does not automatically guarantee grant of a visa. The visa application may be modified or refused by the Embassy at its discretion. Decision of the Embassy of India, Lisbon on the matter shall be final. 

  5. Regular visa applications are accepted between 09:30 AM to 12:00 PM on Tuesdays only.

  6. The duration and number of entries granted to the applicant will be solely at the discretion of Embassy. No claims and correspondences shall be entertained in this regard. 

  7. Visa is valid from the date of issue and not from the date of travel. 

  8. It is strongly advised that applicants do not make any travel arrangements before obtaining an Indian visa. The Embassy of India cannot, under any circumstance, be held responsible for visa not issued in time. 

  9. All Visa applicants are advised to give their bio-metrics at the time of submission of their applications. 

  10.  FEES: The price of your visa is made up of fixed service charges and variable consular charges. The consular charges depend on the type of visa requested and on your nationality. Please consult the fees chart below in order to calculate the total amount to pay. Visa fee chart

  11. Refund Policy in case of excess/multiple payments on regular visa.

4.1 Consular Officer Mr. Sandeep Gupta, Attaché (Consular & Community Welfare) is ‘Nodal Officer’ for all Refund claims at mission through the e-mail cons.lisbon@mea.gov.in

4.2 All disputed refund claims will be processed and settled within 07 days of receipt of the request.

4.3 In case of disputed claims, Mission will approach Ministry (CPV Division) which will after examination, issue Refund Order or otherwise. All such cases will be completed within 21 days of receipt from the applicant.

4.4 No refund claim will be entertained after 3 months of such payment.

4.5 For refund claims with regard to E-visa are accepted by this Mission.
