Extension of time-line for handwritten travel document/ PIO cards beyond 31st March, 2020.

Bureau of Immigration will accept PIO cards valid travel document till 30th September, 2020 alongwith valid foreign passport and the Indian Immigration Post(s) will continue to consider all PIO cards valid for exit from/ entry into India till 30th September, 2020. This extension of time line is subject to the condition that if in the meanwhile any deadline is notified by the International civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) thereby making handBureau of Immigration will accept PIO cards valid travel document till 30th September, 2020 alongwith valid foreign passport and the Indian Immigration Post(s) will continue to consider all PIO cards valid for exit from/ entry into India till 30th September, 2020. This extension of time line is subject to the condition that if in the meanwhile any deadline is notified by the International civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) thereby making hand written PIOcards invalid, then PIO cardholders may have to obtain appropriate visa from Indian Mission/Posts.

However, all the PIO cardholders with valid PIO cards as on 09/01/2015 to apply for conversation of PIO card to OCI as per the guidelines issued by Ministry of Home Affairs from time to time.
