MANAGE: Distance Education Course 'PGDAEM'

The National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE) was established in 1987, at Hyderabad, by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India as an autonomous Institute. The institute is the Indian response to challenges posed in agricultural extension in a rapidly growing and diverse agriculture sector due to policies of liberalization and globalisation of the economy. MANAGE has been playing a key role in this endeavor also evolving effective ways of managing the extension system through professional guidance and training of critical manpower.

Besides, one of the important mandates of MANAGE vests the institute with the responsibility to work in developing linkages between prominent state, regional, national and international institutions concerned with agricultural extension management, Gaining insight into agricultural extension management systems and policies and Forging collaborative linkages with national and international institutions for sharing faculty resource. In this regard, manage already works and delivers its educational, training, research, and extension service through its collaborative partners Food and Agriculture Organisation, World Bank, United States Agriculture Department, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), etc.

However, the Post Graduate Diploma in Agricultural Extension Management (PGDAEM) is one of the educational programs of MANAGE, specially designed for the extension functionaries of Agriculture and allied sectors of the Central/State/UT governments, SAUs, KVKs, and also for the functionaries working in Agri-business companies and Agri-enterprises, NGOs, Banks, Cooperatives, etc, which was launched in 2007 and completed thirteen batches so far, on a distance mode. The main objectives of the program are to enhance the techno-managerial competence of candidates, acquaint the candidate with the latest developments in the field of agricultural extension, and equip the extension functionaries with the latest tools and techniques for participatory decision making and to develop an insight into various extension models to enrich the Agri.- value chain.

The PGDAEM programme (distance education) has received an overwhelming response from both the public and private sectors. In order to increase the outreach and cover a large number of candidates both at the national and international level, MANAGE has launched an alternate PGDAEM-MOOCs program i.e. Post Graduate Diploma in Agricultural Extension Management (PGDAEM) using Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), an online e-learning platform in the year 2017 for graduates who aspire to enrich their knowledge in Agricultural Extension Management (brochure enclosed). At the international level program already covered candidates from Ghana, Uganda, Kenya, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Mozambique, Botswana, Niger, Rwanda and Nepal.

The PGDAEM-MOOCs programme has 30 credits and will be offered in two semesters across one year. The program will have five courses each semester. 1st semester will have 15 credits and 2nd semester will have 15 credits which includes project work. It is mandatory to complete all the ten courses + nine assignments + project work during the course period, in order to qualify for the award of the certificate. The candidates can go through the course-wise study material, video lectures, and quizzes, available online for self-learning. In each course, there will be an interactive session with a subject matter specialist.

The course is open to any graduate (Both Indians and Internationals) i.e. students, officials, non-officials, and others. There is No Age Limit to apply. The registration for PGDAEM — MOOCs 12th batch last date FOR REGISTRATION is 30 September 2022. Candidates interested in enrolling for this program may register online through the link available (under education) at the MANAGE website www.manage.gov.in at PGDAEM-MOOCs (Online) or they may also directly login from https://www.manage.gov.in/MOOCSAEM/ and the last date for the payment is 9 October 2022.

The total application fee of the course for Indian candidates (PGDAEM — MOOCs), all inclusive, is Rs. 7,000.00 and for international candidates USD 200.00, which is to be paid online. Payment of the fees has to be made only after the acceptance of the application by MANAGE.
