Installation of the first-ever bust of Mahatma Gandhi in Madeira (05.09.2019)

Under the aegis of the celebrations of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Embassy of India in Lisbon, in association with the Regional Government of Madeira, installed the first-ever bust of Mahatma Gandhi on 5 September 2019 at the Avenida do Mar in Funchal, the capital city of Madeira. The bust was unveiled by Ambassador of India to Portugal H.E. K. Nandini Singla and the President of Madeira Regional government H.E. Miguel Albuquerque. The ceremony was attended by Engr. Amílcar Gonçalves and Engra. Paula Cabaço of the Madeira Government and saw enthusiastic participation of over 100 people from different walks of life. The bust was provided by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations in the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
