Celebrating 150 years of the Mahatma: Event at Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa (02.10.2018)

The Embassy of India in Lisbon, in collaboration with the Centre for Indian Studies of FLUL - Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa and Portugal-India Friendship Association (AAPI), celebrated birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi (Bapu@150) on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. The event included :
Release of commemorative Gandhi Stamp issued by Indian Dept. of Post;
Satya Vartaa (speeches) by Dr. Pedro Delgado Alves, Member of Parliament and Dr. Leonidio Ferreira, Journalist, Diário de Notícias on “How Gandhi’s message changed their lives”;
Release of instrumental renditions of Mahatma Gandhi’s favourite bhajan ‘Vaishnav Jan To Tene Kahiye Je’ by the famous Portuguese flutist ‘Rão Kyao’ and a fusion music video rendition by international artists;
Live singing of Mahatma Gandhi’s one of the favourite Bhajans “Raghupathi Raghava Rajaram” by Indian community members; and
A video message by Ambassador of South Africa to Portugal H.E. Mmamokwena Gaoretelelwe.

A selection of Khadi items was also displayed on this occasion.
