Celebration of 71st Independence Day of India, 15 Aug 2017

The 71st Independence Day of India was celebrated on 15 Aug 2017 at India House (Embassy Residence) in Lisbon. About 200 people from Indian Community celebrated the occasion with patriotic fervour. Shri. Amararam Gurjar, Chargé d'affaires (Cd’A), unfurled Indian National Flag and read out address of President of India to the Nation. In his speech, Shri. Gurjar highlighted India's achievements in last seven decades and invited the Indian diaspora to contribute in various initiatives of Indian Government to build a “New India”.
The programme was followed by a vibrant cultural programme which included singing of patriotic songs, a short dance performance by local artists and an interactive ‘Know India’ Quiz which saw enthusiastic participation.
